From Communication and IT to TVP Technical Arts

Where do i start?

Starting the course was a bit different from what I expected, but not in a negative meaning. As a danish student, I am very familiar with essay writings and researching for projects, so I was surprised to learn, that things are a bit different in England. For starters, the course I'm on now consists of practical training, rather than "read a book about a subject and never get your hands on" form I'm oh so familiar with from Denmark, so that was a plus for me. Im still struggling to find the right vocabulary, which is why the grammar might not be 100% correct all the time, but I'm getting there.

In Denmark I was studdying Communication and IT at The University of Copenhagen, and had been doing for the past two years, so when I got the opportunity to study abroad I felt like I had to take the chance! So I ended up at Middlesex University in North-West London. Right from the start I saw a difference in the way that things work - for starters, the english semester starts in october (!!), so when I left Denmark in september, a lot of my former classmates had already started their courses. But the academic semester at Middlesex is a bit different, and even though we only have class tuesday and thursday, we get a lot done! As a Television Production student, we have to do tutorials for the different equipment, in order to be allowed to operate it and borrow it for our own productions. I very much doubt the bureaucracy at Uni of Copenhagen would have trusted their students enough to have allowed that!

Costumes for the music video

Anyways, I'm settling in. At the moment I am shooting a music video with my group, and this is the sort of assignments we are given here. So while people back in Denmark are sitting sweating over their books, I am sweating over a camera, but getting my hands on and learning by doing, and I find that very relieving!

On our way to the attic

About the music video - it is a work in progress... We did some shots in an attic and now need to do some shots to mix in with the rest, but we spend a whole day filming for a result we didn't know how was going to end up. On the bright side, we got some good shots, and the video is coming along nicely.

Editing the video
Enjoy!
